Description

From their wide variety of color to their attractive bark patterns, crepe myrtle trees are a great way to add months of color to your yard.

The deciduous crepe myrtle is among the longest blooming trees, with flowering periods lasting from 60 to 120 days. Leaves are alternate and smooth, but the leaf size depends on variety. Flowers emerge in the summer in big, showy clusters and come in white as well as many shades of pink, purple, lavender, and red. The fruits that follow are brown or black. When the fruits mature, they dry and split, releasing disk-shaped seeds. The crepe myrtle prefers moist soil, where it grows exceedingly fast, but it tolerates dry conditions once established.
