Description
Outstanding tree. Easy to grow. A native to China, this tree is often called the Drake elm. It's named for its distinctive patterned bark. The lace bark elm has an attractive grey and orange flaking bark and elliptic toothed leaves that turn yellow or reddish in the fall. It is a striking yard or street tree that is durable, easy to transplant, and easy to care for. It is also resistant to Dutch elm disease and air pollution, and has great variability among seedlings. The lace bark elm is deciduous to semi-evergreen, and has a moderate to rapid growth habit. It can reach 50 feet tall. It often fairs better in old age than the American elm.
